Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Adam's Bar — who it's for, what's in it, and how to order.
Adam's Bar is a protein bar developed by physicians specifically for people on GLP-1 medications like semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound). When your appetite is suppressed, every bite has to count — so we built a bar with 16g of complete protein, 7g of prebiotic fiber, and zero artificial sweeteners, designed to support your nutrition without triggering nausea or digestive distress.
We were trying to decide what to name it, and we kept discussing how we wanted to be different from David Bar which has unnatural ingredients. One of our Co-Founders kept mis-calling it "Adam's Bar", I guess because they are both biblical names? Anyway, we thought it was accidentally perfect. Adam is associated with Garden of Eden, natural foods, perfection, and apples. Since two of the three cofounders are docs, we're partial to apples.
Anyone on a GLP-1 medication who wants to protect their muscle, manage GI side effects, and actually enjoy what they're eating. It's also a great option for anyone who wants a clean, high-protein snack without the usual compromises.
16 grams of complete protein per bar — sourced from whey protein concentrate and bovine collagen peptides. We use animal-based protein because it delivers a higher leucine content and better digestibility than plant-based alternatives, which matters especially when your total food intake is reduced.
Allulose, monk fruit extract, and small amounts of honey. No sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame K, erythritol, maltitol, sorbitol, or other sugar alcohols. Sugar alcohols are a common cause of bloating and GI distress — a particularly bad combination for people already dealing with GLP-1 side effects. Allulose behaves like sugar in taste and texture but is not metabolized the same way, keeping glycemic impact low.
EPG (Esterified Propoxylated Glycerol) is a synthetic fat substitute used by some protein bar manufacturers to reduce calorie density while inflating the protein-to-calorie ratio. It causes oily stools, greasy discharge, cramping, bloating, and diarrhea — and reduces absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Think of it as olestra's little brother. We don't use it. We don't use seed oils, palm oil, or hydrogenated oils either.
Yes. Adam's Bar is gluten-free, and we are currently in the process of obtaining GFCO (Gluten-Free Certification Organization) certification.
Most flavors contain tree nuts (almonds) and milk. PB & Banana contains peanuts and milk. All products are made in a facility that also processes peanuts, eggs, soy, wheat, sesame, other tree nuts, and shell/pit fragments. Full allergen information is listed on each product page.
GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying — which means food sits in your gut longer, giving bacteria more time to ferment whatever's in there. High-FODMAP foods (beans, cruciferous vegetables, sugar alcohols, wheat, certain fruits) become even more likely to cause bloating and gas. We use chicory root fiber and soluble tapioca fiber specifically because they provide prebiotic benefit without the FODMAP load.
Research shows that without deliberate protein intake, 25–40% of total weight lost on GLP-1 therapy can come from muscle rather than fat. That matters long-term: every kilogram of muscle lost reduces your resting metabolic rate. It also contributes to hair shedding (telogen effluvium) that many patients experience 2–4 months into treatment. The clinical target is 1.0–1.6g of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight — for most adults, that's 100–150g per day. Our bars are designed to close that gap efficiently.
Animal Protein = Complete Power. Plant Protein = Incomplete Gamble.
Tired of choking down endless bowls of rice and beans just to scrape by on protein? Here's the raw truth: Animal sources like meat, milk, and whey deliver complete proteins — all 9 essential amino acids in perfect ratios, ready for your body to use.
Plant proteins? Mostly incomplete. They're low or missing key aminos like lysine, methionine, or leucine. You're forced to mix, match, and overeat massive volumes — and even then, your body struggles.
I know it's popular to say you are 'plant protein' but it's a scam. There's a reason that vegetarians don't look healthy - it's because incomplete protein leads to profound muscle loss and poor collagen health. That's why people look weak and "drippy" with loose skin. That's not how we want to look. We want to look vibrant and vital, and that means animal protein.

This is a personal story. I (Topher) was with my wife in Amsterdam and we went to this amazing Italian restaurant called Point Acaré. There were old men there, the service was slow, the food was amazing, and if you weren't a regular you couldn't order the special items like osso bucco. Best bottle of wine in my life. We left there, walking home, knowing this was the best dinner of our lives. We decide to go back. Next night, it was terrible. Food was just bad. We looked at each other and agreed that we had ruined it. We should have never come back and saved the memory.
So our last night in Amsterdam, we have no plans for dinner. We see this weird blue neon sign for "Coffee & Jazz". It says it's an Argentinian restaurant. Whatever, we decide to go in. It's dark, there are only three other people in there. We're about to turn around and leave when this crazy head of hair pops out from behind the counter. It's the owner, and he's clearly altered. Think Jeff Goldblum on adderall. He runs at us, directs us to sit, and throws menus at us. Then, he takes them away. "I will order for you tonight!" He runs away.
Well this will be interesting. He proceeds to produce plate after plate of the best food I can remember eating. He pours wine we didn't ask for paired with food we cannot identify. It's magical. My wife is laughing at the booth behind us and pulls me closer. "The guy with the two girls behind you is an idiot. The girls are friends and want to take him home. The guy can't figure out which one likes him, so keeps flipping back and forth. I think he's going to blow it." Can you imagine how much restraint it took for me not to turn around and look?
We finish the meal. The bill is impossibly light. We tell him this is the best restaurant in Amsterdam and he's beaming. We walk out into the night and agree, we can never never go back.
From that night on, whenever we have an amazing experience, we look at each other and say, "Coffee & Jazz" and we keep the memory.
Also this bar has caffeine in it and calling it "Coffee Bar" seemed lame.
